Adventures Part Three – Queenstown, Arrowtown and hidden gems!

Next up Queenstown! En route to Queenstown we paid the Mavora lakes a visit. We were told about this place by a local and decided to take the turning off down a long dirt road. What a hidden gem! We passed herds of sheep (in the road!) and countless fields with a mountainous back drop and wondered when we would arrive at the lakes. We rounded one more corner and there they were. Mavora lakes is one of those remote places so unspoilt and rugged. A true slice of NZ!

After a quick 30 minute walk around the lake we hopped back in the car and headed to Queenstown where we spent the next three days exploring the area. A day trip to Arrowtown was a wee highlight Рa quaint little town tucked away in the mountains and definitely worth a visit for a few nights next time.
