Hiking up Mount Thomas

In preparation for a hike up Mount Fyffe Mr M, Mrs F and I decided to hike up Mount Thomas. Winter time is generally a lot milder here, which makes it more pleasant to hike in. Also in winter the Southern Alps are covered in snow, making an amazing backdrop to Christchurch. We jumped in the car and drove the hours drive to get to the track. When we arrived we decided to take the steep track up and the easier track down. The track on the way up had some fallen trees, but nothing we couldn’t duck under or walk around! The snow was really deep in some areas making it tough to walk. My legs definitely hurt for a few days after!
