Anzac Day

I must say I am enjoying all of these bank holidays! We have just had Anzac Day, a solemn day of remembrance for the Australian and New Zealand troops who lost their lives at Gallipoli in 1915. It is basically the equivalent of the British Remembrance Day. Flags flew at half mast and shops, cafes etc are not allowed to open until midday.

We decided to head out to north Canterbury to Gore Bay and then stopping at Aunt A’s and Uncle G’s for dinner on the way back through. Gore Bay was stunning! We picnicked on the beach, walked up over the cliff and stopped in a cafe on our way back.
